Day 1
Fly direct to Heraklion from the airport of your choice. On arrival meet your Tour Manager and transfer to your hotel for 7 nights’ Dinner, Bed and Breakfast.

Days 2 to 7
At leisure in resort. Your friendly, experienced Tour Manager will be on hand with information about Crete, your resort and our range of interesting, relaxing optional excursions – helping you to enjoy your break to the full.

THE PALACE OF KNOSSOS
Step back into the heart of the great Minoan world on a leisurely guided tour of this fascinating site before heading off into the countryside for a wine-tasting and free time in a pretty traditional village.

VENETIAN CITIES
Travel through truly beautiful coastal and rural scenery, visiting the lovely Venetian harbour, colourful market, Maritime and Archaeological Museums of Chania. If you are based at Gouves, visit delightful Rethymno as part of your excursion.

SOUTH - WEST CRETE
Travel through the heart of Crete; first to Gortys, the island’s capital in Roman times; now, dreaming  amongst wildflower-meadows and olive-groves. Explore the Minoan Palace of Phaestos, with panoramic views over the Mesara Plain, before time for relaxation at Matala on the Libyan Sea.

AROUND ELOUNDA
Wonder at the ancient frescoes glowing jewel-bright in the tiny church of the Panayia Kera at the hill-village of Kritsa. Travel the coast road around Mirambellou Bay. Visit hauntingly-beautiful Spinalonga, setting for the award-winning novel “The Island”, before rounding-off the day at attractive Aghios Nikolaos.

THE LASITHI PLATEAU
This is one of the most beautiful areas of Crete, its fields and orchards sheltered by a dramatic backdrop of mountains.

CRETAN EVENING
An opportunity to enjoy traditional costumes, Cretan music and exuberant time-honoured dances. Wine is included with Dinner.

SANTORINI
Travel to this fascinating island, crescent-shaped after the events which rocked the ancient world. Your day includes a guided tour of Santorini.

Day 8
Transfer to Heraklion Airport for your homeward flight.

MAGDA HOTEL, Kato Gouves: This comfortable 4* hotel enjoys an excellent location near the sandy Blue Flag beach of tranquil Kato Gouves, making it an ideal base whether you want to “get away from it all” or to explore Crete. Facilities include indoor and outdoor swimming-pools, a fitness suite, well-tended gardens and attractive restaurant, bar and lounge areas.

THEARTEMIS PALACE HOTEL, Rethymno: The charming town of Rethymno, about an hour to the West of Heraklion, has good beaches, a lovely Old Harbour, Fortezza , Archaeological and Folklore Museums. It offers easy access to the beautiful scenery of Central, Western and Southern Crete. Your stylish, welcoming 4* hotel, near a sandy beach and an easy stroll from the Venetian Harbour and Old Town, has 2 swimming-pools, a fine restaurant, attractive grounds and a pleasant bar and lounge.

FLEXIBILITY: TRAVEL: Should you wish to make independent flight and transfer arrangements, the cost of your holiday will be reduced by £200 per person. Please note that you are then responsible for your own transfer arrangements and costs, and your holiday will not be ATOL-protected since it is no longer one of our Air Holiday packages.
